Oklahoma Board of Corrections Meets on Mental Illness, Substance Abuse, and Criminal Justice System

The Oklahoma Board of Corrections convened an "Emergency Summit on Mental Illness, Substance Abuse, and the Criminal Justice System" on November 11, 2005. The Summit was the result of a collaboration between NAMI-Oklahoma, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, the Department of Corrections, and other advocacy organizations and state agencies. Speakers included the lieutenant governor, attorney general, judges, district attorneys, sheriffs, police chiefs, and mental health consumers. Over 500 people from a diverse array of disciplines participated in the working conference.
