On July 13, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed its fiscal year 2007 Commerce, Justice, State appropriations bill, which reserved $5 million for a grant program authorized by the the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act (MIOTCRA); the bill will now head to the Senate floor for consideration.

In late June, the House of Representatives passed its fiscal year 2007 Science, State, Justice, Commerce (SSJC) appropriations bill, which also reserved $5 for the grant program authorized by MIOTCRA. For more information on the House bill, click here.
