How to Use the Directory of Program Profiles
Program Profiles are presented on the Consensus Project Web site to provide up-to-date information about initiatives around the country working to improve the response to people with mental illness involved in the criminal justice system, and to provide a venue for dialogue among policymakers, practitioners, and advocates working in this field.
New programs are continually added to the directory, including those suggested by site visitors.

Adding Your Program to the Directory
We encourage you to enter information about your program directly into the database. This section of the memorandum describes how to do this in two steps. Should you later wish to modify or update your entry, you will have the opportunity to do so, as described below. Links to the program profiles that have most recently added or updated will appear on the Consensus Project home page.

A. Registering
You will need to register with the Consensus Project in order to explore most of the functions of the directory of Program Profiles, including suggesting a program for inclusion in the database. You can do this here or via the Login/Register link at the top of any page on the site. When you register, you'll be asked to enter some basic information including your email address, name, profession, and state. When you have submitted the information, the site will send you an email to confirm your email address. You must click on the link included in that email in order to complete your registration.

B. Suggest a New Program
Once you have registered, you can enter the directory of Program Profiles by clicking on the Program Profiles page on the left of any page on the site. Then click Suggest a New Program. (The system will ask you to log in, if you have not.) A form will ask you for a variety of information about your program. Please fill out as many of these fields as possible. You will become the Program Contact Person by default. After completing the form, click "submit" and then "confirm" to submit your entry to the Consensus Project. The Consensus Project Editors will review the entry and then contact you with questions or to let you know that your program has been added to the database.

Role of Program Contact Person
As a Program Contact Person, you will be able to manage your program's profile in the database. This includes the ability to edit the core description of your program, to post updates, to answer questions from interested visitors, and to encourage other individuals to participate as stakeholders on your Program Profile. The remainder of this document describes, in detail, how to participate as a Program Contact Person.

A. Editing Your Program Profile
Once you have registered, you should see a link to "Your Profile" at the top of the screen each time that you log in. This link will take you to a page with several options:
1. View / edit your personal information
2. Change your password
3. Link to your program's profile
Follow the link to your program's profile. On the right hand side of your program's profile, you should see a link to "edit this information." This link will allow you to edit the description of your program, to fill in fields that are now empty, and to periodically add updates.
As noted above, links to the program profiles that have most recently updated will appear on the Consensus Project home page. To ensure the accuracy of the information in the database, we ask that you update your entry whenever possible and, at a minimum, once every six months. If you do not update your entry within this time period, we will contact you to determine if your program is still active.

B. Asking and Answering Questions
Visitors to the directory of Program Profiles may direct questions to you as a Program Contact Person (and you may direct questions to other Program Contacts when you visit their pages). These questions will appear in the "Q&A" section of your program's profile; to view this section, click on "Q&A" from the Program Profile page.
When a question is directed to you, you will receive an email which includes a link to the "Q&A" page. Please follow this link to enter your answer directly onto the site. When you have done so, the answer will appear beside the question on the "Q&A" page. The most recent questions and answers about your program will appear above the program description on your Program Profile page. The most recent questions and answers about any program will appear on the Consensus Project home page.

C. Adding Program Stakeholders
1. What are Program Stakeholders?
As a program contact person, you will be able to add stakeholders to your program's profile. Program stakeholders are officials, practitioners, or advocates who have knowledge of your program and are willing to respond to questions from site visitors. For example, for a law-enforcement based diversion program, stakeholders could include, among others, a mental health provider who receives referrals from the officers, a mental health advocate who encouraged the launch of the program, a jail administrator who recognizes the value of the program, or a county executive who helped to build support for the program.
The purpose of adding stakeholders to your program is two-fold. First, programs with stakeholders demonstrate the kind of collaboration that is essential to any effort at the intersection of criminal justice and mental health. For this reason, programs with multiple stakeholders will be highlighted on the Consensus Project Web site.
Secondly, adding stakeholders will help site visitors direct questions to their counterparts. For example, if a county executive is interested in a law enforcement-based diversion program, the county executive may want to communicate directly with another county executive, as opposed to speaking with the administrator of the diversion program. Adding stakeholders will make your program's entry more useful for all site visitors.
2. How to Add Program Stakeholders
On your Program Profile page you will find a link to "Modify Program Stakeholders." Click on this link and you will be prompted to enter the email address of the stakeholder you wish to add, and then confirm it. Confirmation will automatically generate an email inviting them to become a stakeholder with your program. Once they have responded positively, their names and contact emails will appear within your program's profile.

Additional Help
We believe the directory of Program Profiles has the potential to become an unprecedented resource for policymakers, practitioners, and advocates across the country working to improve the response to people with mental illness who are involved in the criminal justice system. The success of this initiative depends, in large part, on Program Contact People like you, and we greatly appreciate your participation in this initiative.
